Position Overview: The Fleet and Facility Manager is an experienced employee in all areas from routine preventative maintenance to heavy equipment issues including documentation, scheduling, organization, and negotiating and purchasing parts and supplies. This position performs work of considerable difficulty managing fleet and facility maintenance operations for Turf Tamer, Inc. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of maintenance and improvement programs as they relate to the continuous operation of a fleet of 300 plus owned and/or operated vehicles or equipment units and the facilities and buildings. This position is the blood life of our production teams. It is essential that proactive measures are taken to ensure equipment is ready for use when needed and premature wear does not exist due to poor maintenance practices. The use of safe practices is only acceptable. This position has considerable latitude for making independent judgments and decisions.
Responsibilities: 1. Identifies and provides solutions for fleet services. 2. Develops effective and attainable programs. 3. Provides technical support and consultation to team members on proper use, care, and preventive maintenance of all assets. 4. Coordinates fleet and facility maintenance programs. 5. Supervises shop operations including a variety of scheduled equipment activities, preventative and routine maintenance activities, and emergency/unscheduled maintenance activities. 6. Develops and promotes effective work programs that incorporate life-cycle costing concepts and maximize the resources available from operating and capital equipment budgets. 7. Identifies and pursues opportunities to optimize effectiveness and efficiency. 8. Contributes to fleet replacement decisions for vehicles and equipment. 9. Is responsible for the identification, management, and proper disposal of any hazardous substances encountered or resulting from operations. 10. Prepares and presents information concerning operational effectiveness and issues arising from the field operations to the management team. 11. Manages maintenance schedules 12. Operates a personal computer, maintenance software, inventory systems, telephone and two-way radio. 13. Performs other duties of a comparable level/type as required. 14. Experience and Skills 1. High School Diploma or GED required and 5 or more years related work experience in the automotive industry or any combination of education and experience greater than 10 years related work experience. 2. Thorough knowledge of materials, methods and techniques used on fleet maintenance activities and facility maintenance. 3. Considerable demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, and purchasing procedures. 4. Considerable knowledge of hazards and applicable safety precautions and procedures of the work. 5. Ability to plan, direct and supervise the work of laborers, mechanics and equipment operators performing varied activities in a manner conducive to full performance. 6. Ability to operate a computer and maintain records accurately. 7. Ability to communicate effectively under stressful situations. 8. Must possess skills in communication, interpersonal skill as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to provide and/or receive work direction. 9. Reliability is a must in all areas of position. 10. Ability to plan, organize and delegate work to achieve desired results. 11. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. 12. Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Certifications 1. Completion of an associates or bachelor’s degree in related program is desirable. 2. Five to seven years supervisory experience in fleet and/or facilities management. 3. Industry related certifications are a plus 4. Commercial Drivers License should be attained after employment if not held prior to employment. 5. Possession of a Valid Driver’s License, supplemented by a satisfactory driving record.
