We are a grower and distributor of annuals and perennials as well as a nursery stock and landscape supply wholesale company servicing New England garden centers, landscapers, municipalities, golf courses, landscape architects and many other professional businesses. We are currently seeking a Green House Manager/Head Grower. Overview: The Greenhouse Manager oversees the health of all crops, as well as any factors affecting the progress of plant growth in an effort to meet sales deadlines. This position is responsible for the staffing, training and scheduling of greenhouse section growers. Additionally, this person ensures the greenhouses are a safe working environment while still maintaining optimal conditions for plant growth. Major Job Functions: Monitor daily crop progress to ensure good quality in the appropriate sales time frames Oversee daily growing tasks (watering, fertilizing, growth regulating, pest management, etc.) Supervise greenhouse growing staff Manage and troubleshoot greenhouse environmental control and irrigation systems Assign and monitor tasks and special projects as needed Oversee the coordination of projections and growing schedules Requirements: 3 - 5 years of ornamental plant production experience 2+ years in a managerial position Proven experience with current pest and disease control strategies including IPM techniques and the addition of Biocontrols Familiarity with latest crop growth manipulation strategies including detailed DIF/DIP control and chemical growth regulators Knowledge of Qcom Environmental Control Systems is a plus Bachelor’s degree in horticultural or similar area of study Benefits include: Environment: Fun, Casual, Friendly, Team and Success oriented; hard work and dedication noticed and acknowledged.
