Summary:
This position requires a great deal of interaction with both clients and all Company personnel, to make sure our clients needs are met and work is performed to the required standards, while meeting all targets and goals. Operation Manager is expected to be a CLT or CLP. This certification must be started in the first year of employment and completed by the end of the second year of employment. Certification must be completed in all areas of landscape construction and maintenance.
Supervision Received:
Operations Manager works under the direction of the General Manager
Supervision Exercised:
Operations Manger supervises the Maintenance and Landscape operation, including: Mow, Detail and Irrigation personnel assigned to their individual accounts. The position works closely with crews to effectively allocate equipment, labor and to dispatch personnel for the efficient completion of all daily work. The position has wide latitude to make decisions with regard to the accounts under their direction and is responsible for the results. The position may also supervise and/or direct Landscape Enhancement and construction personnel in tasks related to their accounts.
Job Description/Duties:
Operations Managers are fully responsible for the accounts they manage, and for all aspects of the work, including all landscape management services, enhancement work, snow removal, and holiday lighting.
Interact with clients by phone, fax, E-mail, and through site inspections.
Understand customers expectations and try to exceed them, while maintaining profitability.
Sell additional services as appropriate.
Provide estimates and quotes for established clients as well as potential new accounts and miscellaneous other jobs within the service area. Develop leads for add-on services and new accounts within the service area.
Review all work orders pertaining to accounts and other work in the service area and follow up to make sure work is completed efficiently and to the clients satisfaction.
Interact with personnel involved on the accounts to make sure work is performed at the necessary level of both quality and efficiency.
Review periodic job-costing reports and meet with the President and Senior Architect on a weekly basis or more often to report on successes and problem areas.
Other duties and requirements as assigned by the General Manager.
Work Schedule:
March October: Work week will be M-F, 7am-5:30pm. Every other Saturday will be used for catch up and staff meetings.
November April: Work week will be M-F, 8am-4:30pm. Weekend work will only be necessary provided there are emergencies or snow removal.
GOALS -
Operational:
Responsible with organizing morning dispatch with crew leaders, sprinkler repair staff and chemical applications personnel.
Follow up with crew leaders and other personnel through the day to make sure work schedules are being met. Make adjustments as the day proceeds to ensure completion of the work in an efficient manner.
Responsible with making sure Company operational and safety standards and policies are adhered to and take disciplinary action when appropriate.
Responsible with planning of future work schedules for Maintenance crews.
Effect organizational flow for projects to make sure equipment and materials are delivered to job sites in good time.
Maintain and improve current quality assurance controls.
Meet with customers as needed to review work and maintain good relations.
Coordinate and supervise the work of shop personnel.
Human Resources:
Responsible with hiring, evaluations, promotions and disciplinary action
Responsible with personnel training and development
Responsible with the refining of Company HR policies and procedures
Marketing:
Make sure the clients expectations are met or exceeded within budgetary constraints.
Developing long-term relationships with clients
Develop new sales opportunities
Qualities Needed:
Computer literate in Word and Excel. Will need to learn CLIP industry specific software
Proven track record in personnel management, preferably in the Green Industry
High level of motivation and conflict resolution skills.
Good math skills must be able to do take-offs from Landscape plans.
Good customer relations skills and ability to work with difficult clients.
Bilingual some basic Spanish very helpful.
Good general landscape knowledge in irrigation and water management, lawn care, pruning and chemical applications.
Strong communication, motivational and team building skills.
Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
Even-tempered, with good conflict resolution skills.
Physical demands lift 50lbs. occasionally, work in extremes of heat and cold, and walk 5 miles per day.
