| Description: | In this position, the candidate acts as the face for many of Shemin Nurseries customers, there is a responsibility to deliver excellent customer service while delivering materials to our customers. Essential Duties: •Provide timely and courteous delivery of materials between various types of establishments. •Drivers may also assist with loading and unloading products. •Make minor mechanical repairs to ensure the truck is in good working condition. •Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor; clean equipment. •Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. •Operate trucks for the delivery, pickup and relocation of products. •Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations. •Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs. •Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition. •Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations. Skills & Qualifications: •5 years minimum driving experience •Must be CDL, Class A licensed •Proven safety record •Ability to work overtime as the season requires •Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions; •Ability to work in adverse weather conditions; both heat and cold •Be able to lift and carry approximately 50 – 100 lbs repeatedly •Ability to safely drive various types of vehicles •Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times •Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public •Ability to communicate effectively •Ability to work independently •Experience in the horticultural industry or a retail/wholesale environment is a strong plus •Requires prolonged sitting, driving and material handling equipment operations. •High School diploma or GED |
